The Berlin Wall: 20 Years Later

A demonstrator pounded at the Berlin Wall next to the Brandenburg Gate early on Nov. 11, 1989, as East German border guards, on the other side, responded with a water hose.

I can’t believe it’s been 20 years! I remember a good friend of mine, Firdaus Fadlil, who was in Europe at that time on a photo assignment, brought home a piece of the wall. What an intoxicating moment!

Checkout NY Times’ The Berlin Wall – 20 Years Later celebration and the interactive “Where Were You When the Wall Fell” user-submitted piece, The View From the Wall.

P.S. Go rent Good Bye Lenin! for a touch of East Berlin and communist humor.

1024 Squares installation

Awesome projection by 1024 collective. The content is projected via custom QC software, controlled by the musician MPC in real-time. Really cool!

BMW Z4 Augmented Reality art

I stumbled upon BMW’s Augmented Reality piece — looks like a follow up to the Expression of Joy campaign — but you can be like artist Robin Rhode and use the AR Z4 roadster as a paintbrush to create colorful art. Go ahead, express yourself!

On a side note, I’ve been a fan on Robin Rhode for a while now. This Cape Town-born artist hooked me via his Yo Yo piece.

Love it! Check out images of his work on Flickr.

Wonderwall: Just wonderful

Wonderwall‘s site really just incites wonderment, envy and a deep feeling of let-me-crawl-under-my-desk-and-weep.  Designed by the  totally kick-ass Yugo Nakamura, the guy behind Muji, Uniqlo and ffffound! Nice. Very nice.

Orthorexic I’m not!

I’m glad I found this on The Guardian: Orthorexia nervosa = fixation on righteous eating.

According to the the article, orthorexics commonly have rigid rules around eating, refusing to touch sugar, salt, caffeine, alcohol, wheat, gluten, yeast, soya, corn and dairy foods, and on and on… Of course any foods that have come into contact with pesticides, herbicides or contain artificial additives are out… This obsession about which foods are “good” and which are “bad” means orthorexics can end up malnourished.

Well, I love my coffee, my bacon, my alcohol, my butter… There are those who always let me know what they think about my eating, but you only live once and I like to live mine with lots of finger-lickin’, lip-smackin’, delicious food. Call it my little plates of heaven. 🙂
