Shepard Fairey sues AP over Obama Poster

PDN Online has few headlines & blog entries on this story. So if the photographer (Mannie Garcia) doesn’t mind, what is all the fuss about, AP? Also, Shepard can share some of the fame with Mannie. Why can’t everyone just get along?

Best mushroom dish to date

Went to the Royalton Hotel last week and sat at Brasserie 44 with friends for drinks and some grub. Decided on the wild mushrooms and was so glad. That side dish was super good. The full description is “wild mushroom stewed in riesling emulsion.” Yumm!

Sauteed Wild Musroom

I’ve been thinking of cooking that all week. Maybe I’ll do it tomorrow for a nice weekend of relaxing with a nice glass of wine. The closest recipe I found is from the Barefoot Contessa of Food Network: Sauteed Wild Mushroom, even though I’m sure it needs to be roasted a bit for a nice smokiness.

Do good

Interesting book by David B. Berman, Do Good Design: How Designers Can Change the World, which serves as a call to action to designers everywhere to stand up, take our seat at the boardroom table and start changing the way the world looks at design. The end goal is to demonstrate the positive and negative power of communication design.

On a personal note, as a designer, it’s always nice to sit down and just enjoy what the pages have to offer. But when you realize how much of our visual and information planes are littered with bad design, you should do something. Take the Do Good Pledge.

“1001 rules” rules!

I found 1001 rules for my unborn son while browsing aimlessly and spent the next half hour reading and forwarding it to my friends. It’s quirky, entertaining and honest. Squeaky’s Marketing Associate, Jacob Ramos, shared it via Twitter and told me he got quite a few responses for that post. So here it is. It made me grinĀ  and I hope you find it charming as well.

1001 rules for my unborn son

310. Make time for your mom on your birthday. It's her special day too.

Hello world!

I finally get this WordPress thing going. I guess you just have to start and write. So here’s my checklist of getting a post:

  1. Find the time (like right now)
  2. Put thoughts together (this is the hard part, i know)
  3. Write thoughts (include a photo or video if applicable, links are most useful)
  4. Spell check (if you know me, you know typos drive me nuts)
  5. Post (don’t look at the design and tinker with it, just post the damn thing)

That’s basically it, right? I have something in mind for the design part but not for right now. Right now is just posting.

Well, here we go. I hope you’ll enjoy the rest of if when I get to it. Thanks for coming!
